CHINESE ROOTS, GLOBAL SENSIBILITIES

 

Founded in London in 2020 by designers Summer Weng and Pei Li, SP.9 was named after their initials and the number nine which is auspicious in Chinese culture. Both founders have roots in China and studied visual arts and business at world-class design schools in New Zealand, Canada and the U.K., giving them a passion for incorporating different cultural influences into their design schemes.

 

In 2020, Pei Li won an international design award for the Coral Royale table lamp from his Ori Home collection which revives the ancient Chinese tradition of Su embroidery and combines it with contemporary design sensibilities.
